Brief Plan, design and model a one-bedroom vacation home using the VectorWorks software.
Description
The idea behind QUAD was to create low cost, low impact housing that would give Americans an outlet into the natural world. The design is based around a post and clamp system suspending prefabricated panels. This allows the structure to float above the ground reducing its visual, physical and environmental impact upon the site. This design utilizes an interchangeable component system that allows for customization to meet site requirements and customer needs.
Prefab structural panels come wired for electric, plumbing and HVAC as specified. The panel system also allows for finish materials to be applied ahead of time to further minimize onsite impact. In addition to decorative finishes, optional functional upgrades include water collection and storage systems, as well as solar power options for those wanting to exist off the grid. The combination of off-site manufacture, minimal site disturbance and green technology means that this building system allows for people to live in nature with as minimal impact as possible.
