Brief
Plan and design a piece of furniture that includes as many joint types as possible.
Description
In order to create a design that was capable of carrying the amount of joinery needed for this project a larger profile was selected. The use of the three types of wood as well as designed to create a stronger juxtaposition highlighting the joints as an integral part of the overall design. The combination of white ash, walnut, and figured redwood feature prominently with the two central stretchers. The oversized exposed dowel joint connects the cantilevered leg sections, each utilizing a number of mortise and tenon joints. The whole piece is finished with a custom glass top held in place by wood tenons protruding through from the legs.
