Description
Home strives to provide an elegant and considered answer to the housing and climate crisis we are currently facing. It is a solution that tries to give the public a sense of security and stability in our increasingly unstable world. To present small homes that provide ample benefits for its residents while also solving many social, environmental and planning issues all in one. We believe that through thoughtful design we can reformulate the idea of what small living can be, a simple oasis in a world of complex problems.
Concept - Home is a concept for creating long-term, comfortable housing solutions that feel planted, both physically and mentally, as a place to call home. For many moving away from home or moving to a new city means entering the real estate market at the bottom. These spaces are usually unsafe and poorly maintained landing pads that are far away the city center. Essentially housing  for people to escape from as quickly as possible. However, Home is designed to provide comfort, safety and a sense of stability. A place to live and grow in the long run.
Function - Home uses the architecture itself in the function of the space. The overall plan relies on the sculptural nature of the structure. In addition to giving the bold postmodern silhouette the logic of the interior is directly tied to the dramatic thickness of the exterior walls. These solid walls allow the design's interior and utility spaces to carve into the volume of the walls. This method determines much of the functionality of space and eliminates the need for much extra furniture.
Context - Home provides low-density infill homes that activate the borderland between urban and suburban planning. Due to the minimal footprint required, the planning and installation process can maintain and protect the integrity of the natural landscape. In addition to the low density, one to two people per dwelling means that the infrastructure demands remain minimal and can simply utilize existing systems to further reduce the total environmental impact. The use of high-quality materials, selected for their maintainability over time, further underscores the commitment to long-term sustainability.
Theory - Home strives to fill the need for critical housing while standing as a viable architectural statement. Too often, conceptual planning and quality of life are ignored in the lower end of the building spectrum. The concept underlying Home provides a sustainable alternative for housing that is both environmentally friendly and aesthetically planned.
